Our Environmental Excellence program supports the ongoing green transformation of the build environment into smart eco-cities, low-carbon communities, and net zero energy buildings.
We use healthy materials, help to reduce on-site energy consumption and the carbon footprint of buildings. We publish the environmental impact of KONE products and contribute to developing global energy management standards.
Considering the environment when installing new equipment. Our well planned and efficient installation processes minimise the adverse environmental impacts of installation work, and our systems ensure we reduce our chemical use and handle waste efficiently on site.
Using smart technologies and a green vehicle fleet to minimise emissions and maximise efficiency. Unnecessary technical callouts are reduced by remote monitoring solutions and by KONE 24/7 Connected Services, which uses the IBM Watson IoT platform and other advanced technologies to bring intelligent services to elevators and escalators. By carrying optimised spare part stocks in our vehicles we reduce warehouse visits, further decreasing emissions.
Applying a range of solutions to make the biggest difference with the lowest possible environmental impact. Our modernisation solutions range from retrofitting LED lights to a completely new lift with energy regeneration technology.
Our vehicle fleet of 18,000 cars accounts for ca. 75 % of our emissions from our own operations. The key to reaching carbon neutrality is our program for transitioning to a low emission vehicle fleet.
Additionally, we are reducing our electricity consumption in our ca. 1000 facilities. Our target is to increase the share of green electricity globally to 100% by 2030.
